Self-drive companies in Lahore ask for more, and they have to: a driving licence, a CNIC handed over in person, and usually a security cheque held until the car comes back. Where it matters is a day that drifts out of town. A trip to Sheikhupura, or a factory visit past Raiwind, can put a hundred kilometres on the clock before lunch. That is why anything leaving the city is quoted on the outstation rate, which is a different number in the table above and carries no per-kilometre addition.
